With Singapore external pageexperiencing some of the hottest temperatures recorded in May 2022, MediaCorp Channel 8's Chinese-language programme Frontline dedicated an entire episode on urban heat in the city on 9 December. The programme featured the Cooling Singapore project, and went on one of its thermal walks in the city area.

Dr Kristina Orehounig, Lead Principal Investigator of Cooling Singapore, explained the purpose and scope of work of the project. Examining strategies to mitigate urban heat in Singapore, she pointed out such features in and around the CREATE building where Cooling Singapore works. These strategies included photovoltaic panels on building facades, urban greenery on buildings and water features. These are common, real-world examples that are part of the broad strategies in a book published by Cooling Singapore in 2017.

Finally, the second-part of the programme explored the thermal walks led by the SMaRTy team from Singapore Management University (SMU). The programme also interviewed Yik Sin Kang, one of the Cooling Singapore researchers, who shared insights on urban heat discovered during the thermal walks.

This episode was released on Channel 8's streaming platform external page8World on 8 December, and on free-to-air Singapore TV on Friday, 9 December.
