On March 2022, the Singapore-ETH Centre welcomes the arrival of Dr Thomas Meyer as the new managing director.

Prior to joining the SEC, Thomas has been working in various countries and domains in Europe and Asia, covering research, start-ups, IT consulting and foreign affairs. Thomas’s previous roles and job disciplines ranged from software engineering, project management and delivery, sales, business and process consulting up to the level of managing director of foreign legal entities.

In his capacity as the managing director, Thomas will oversee the human resources, finance, information technology, communications, operations, and legal and compliance functions at the SEC.

With SEC marking 12 years since its establishment by ETH Zurich and Singapore’s National Research Foundation in 2010, Thomas brings fresh perspectives and new insights to the centre. He will partner with Prof. Gisbert Schneider, director of the SEC, to take the SEC to more expansive horizons.

SEC also extends its gratitude to Mr Thomas Rufener, who stepped down as managing director in early 2022, for his dedication in overseeing the SEC and shepherding it through the unpredictability of the Covid-19 pandemic. Directors and staff members of the SEC jointly wish him and his family well as he enters the next phase of his life in Switzerland.
