March 8 marks International Women’s Day - a celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievement of women all around the world. At the Singapore-ETH Centre (SEC), a community of talented female researchers and staff have been leading and supporting the advancement of research in the area of future cities and resilient systems.

Today, we celebrate their achievements by launching the Women Researchers’ Network or WReN, aptly named after a small singing bird known for its powerful voice.

WReN aims to raise awareness of the expertise and achievement of women in SEC, first and foremost, and ultimately beyond. It seeks to build stronger networks among women researchers to encourage better representation in research activities. Further, it also seeks to build stronger career support and mentorship from within the network.

WReN is open to everybody: female and male researchers from all disciplines who are working in the area of sustainable and resilient future cities. While the primary intent is to support women researchers, we believe that this is not possible without an inclusive dialogue. Tell us your ideas and aspirations so that together, we can grow this network in a meaningful way. Stay tuned!
