The future city, the IOT-enabled city, needs to be totally inclusive. If people are left behind, they are not the stakeholders of the city. And we need cities to be liveable, to be accepted by people, and that they are all stakeholders.Prof Gerhard Schmitt

The Big Questions is an investigative series on Channel NewsAsia that explores some of the most pressing issues of our time. The episodes pose the big questions centred on one big topic to original thinkers across the world to uncover their perspectives and predictions for the future.

In the first episode 'The Internet of Everything', show host Gwendolyn Regina asks: Will the Internet of Things become the Internet of Everything? Does IoT have the potential to make life better for most of us, or could it be too much of a good thing?

Prof Gerhard Schmitt, director of the Singapore-ETH Centre and principal investigator of Big Data-Informed Urban Design and Governance tells her that the Internet of Things needs to be centred around people and that the voices of people needs to be heard. He says ,"People-centric designed is important. It's not just design for the people, but with the people. In this case, IOT can help a lot."
